What's included?

An advocate can support you throughout the special education process, including:

Explaining parental and child rights under IDEA and state law

Assisting during the initial referral and/or eligibility determination process

Interpreting evaluation reports

Reviewing current or proposed IEP goals, objectives, accommodations, and services

Evaluating Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)

Recommending services, programs, accommodations, and modifications suited to your child's needs

Analyzing progress-monitoring data

Preparing for and attending IEP/504 meetings with you

Drafting communications to school or district personnel

The Read

Best for parents who have the IEP or 504 in hand, but something feels off about it or you can't tell whether you should be advocating for more, or less. You want an expert review before deciding on next steps.

Tier 2

Meeting Prep and Strategy

$750 · most families start here

Everything in The Read, plus you walk in ready

60-minute virtual meeting to review findings and build an advocacy plan. We get on a video call and go through the document together, page by page, while you ask me every question you've been sitting on. Then we talk through it and ensure you feel confident, never overwhelmed.

After our call you receive personalized talking points and specific questions to bring up with your school-based team, including suggested accommodations and services to advocate for

Within 48 hours after your meeting, we get back on a call for 30 minutes so you can tell me what happened while it's still fresh, and we figure out the next move.

Best for families attending their IEP meeting on their own, but who feel like they want to talk through it and make a plan. Most families don't need me in the room, but they do want to feel like they know what to ask for and how to work with the school-based team. In my experience, parents get better plans when they're the one asking - because the team hears it from the person who knows the child best.

Tier 3

Full Advocacy

$1,200 · limited availability

Everything above, and I'm in the meeting with you.

I attend - usually by video, in person in Durham and Chatham County - and I ask the questions that are harder to ask about your own child.

Afterward, we debrief, review the Prior Written Notice, and I send the team a written summary of what was agreed on.

Best for families that are new to the special education process (first IEP or 504), your relationship with the school is already strained, or you've asked for something twice and it hasn't happened. I take a small number of these at a time so that I can engage deeply with each family and understand your child before the meeting. If I'm full, I'll tell you, and Meeting Prep will still serve you well.
